This Is Just TOO Easy

Post

September 8, 2019 –

Each and every day I get the joy of encouraging you, my clients and friends to do workouts.  Everybody is awesome and glad to give me 100%, and every so often, like a few hours ago … someone walked in and said very clearly “I am tired” as she leaned against the front door.  Hmmm, is it the heat?  Probably, but stress or lack of sleep or not enough calories could also be the culprit that has left her drained.

Very thoughtfully, I opened up the gym door and nudged her inside.  Actually waking toward the treadmill she said ‘maybe I could just lay down on this blue matt for a moment’.  But instead, she jumped onto the VersaClimber for a warm-up!  Now that’s stepping up your game (excuse the pun!)  She had found her second wind.

Soon after the warm-up, our session began and she appeared to be in good spirits and apparently ready to work.  Nothing makes me happier then when a client begins the movement pattern at hand … pauses a moment and then says out loud “this is just too easy” … OH BOY! One thing for sure, they are getting stronger and more empowered to work harder!  Yes, that is very good news to me.

How about you?  Are there workouts that you could have done more?  Yesterday I was working with one of my athletes who is ‘perfect’ in his mechanics and does give 100%.  When he reaches my repetition goals, instead of beg for more weight HE JUST KEEPS GOING for maybe another 3 to 7 (or more) repetitions.  He has always had that fire in him and his achievements show it.   He definitely takes every hour seriously and fills every set with all he can handle. I feel that I am a rather good judge of character and need to apply that to my training protocols; patterns, weights, sets, repetitions, mode, and principal.   Seems easy to do, it is not … but that is my favorite part.  YOU are the strongest person in the room and can do the workout everytime … very well!

Let’s make a deal, if you are not at 100% when you arrive … please tell me.  And then when you have finished your session/workout, re-visit your personal energy level and how you feel.  Deal!? Let’s make another deal, if you are stronger than I think you are … tell me please?!  “This is just too easy” might be good for you!  I am listening.

In good health,

Bob
