So Smart - FIT Human Performance
February 18, 2018 –
Just this week a friend of mine was exercising, and following the guidance of an exercise she saw and read about on the internet, it was simply an exercise to strengthen (or build up) her gluteal muscles (buttocks) and firm the rear-end. She didn’t ask me for my opinion or honestly really did not think it through. Long story short, she has inured her low back and is now in pain. The embarrassment doesn’t help either but the moral of the story is that she really was unwilling to put in the work to safely develop muscle and tone in the area. Now she is injured and the internet or girl in the advertisement demonstrating the activity will not apologize or make her feel better (or worse) about it. What is done is done … the end. [Excuse the pun!]
While watching TV with my wife the other day we saw an advertisement for equipment “not sold in stores”! With free shipping plus a money back guarantee … I must will say that you don’t need to be a genius to wonder “is it true or can it work”? Well the answer is often no, and in the case of my friend … NO! She is injured.
This pic shows a genius with a look of doubt, maybe he was watching the same commercial. In our marketplace when it comes to sales … there is no governing body looking out for your best interest. Please, be a genius and think first. In the case of many of my friends or clients, they do not trust social media or advertising when it comes to making safe choices regarding their health and fitness, they trust me. My experience in this industry began in the 70’s and I’ve seen it all.
Chances are is there are a few of you out there who happen to have purchased some exercise equipment or fitness tools (treadmill, bike, elliptical, exercise balls, dumbbells, or a variety of other gadgets to use at home) with good intentions. LIFE gets in the way and I totally understand. My adorable wife shares the designation; the stuff sitting by her desk was once used but now sits there dusty. BUSY people make decisions about the ‘right now’ rather than the ‘right later.’ It is so easy to put off what you do not want to do and so hard to get started when it comes to exercise.
Believe me, I know as well as you do … I have an entire gym at my disposal. But when it comes down to looking at all the trends and fads of TV and social media I ask you to be a genius and really ask yourself “does that seem too good to be true?” IF you see an advertisement of something like ‘BOOTY MAGIC’ or ‘FAT INCINERATOR PILL’ … Please know there is no such thing as a quick fix, a pill, gel, or 10 pounds in one-week organic shake diet. Your body is too smart for such nonsense; ask your brain to be that smart too.
Weight loss is a process, it took time to gain extra pounds and the time adding the weight was likely a blast. The reverse may not be as much fun, but it does need to happen. Plan, what is the plan? Ok that is where I want to offer guidance. If you are thinking speedo swimsuit in July the plan has to start well before April. ALL safe weight loss takes time and dedication. Be a genius and think it through, and let me help you. I just finished my WLS (Weight Loss Specialist) certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Alarming what has happened to America since the 80’s, we went from an overweight society to an obese nation in less than 30 years. The younger generation, our grandkids are born into an uphill struggle.
More information is certainly going to be available in my reports … but for now, do not let yourself get injured or fooled by advertising. Please let me help.
Ps. I’m looking for a photograph of me at 24 years old, 30 pounds ago…
In good health,
Bob
