According to the British Medical Journal, ‘inactivity can kill you’.  Really? (sarcasm)

Interestingly enough, they also claim that studies show ‘inactivity is as deadly as smoking’. These claims were recently a part of the monologue from a very popular television star on late night TV. Mr. Leno said it, so it must be true! Surely one of the behind the scenes journalists must authenticate his comments, right? Well I am here to tell you the claims are true, and a cause of great concern across the globe from Britain to India to the United States. (see references below)

This month we will get the opportunity to watch the breathtaking feats of athletes competing in the 2012 Olympic Games. Although only a select few reach the fitness levels of these athletes, the majority of us have the capacity to be physically active … providing substantial health benefits and a boost in our life expectancy.

At F.I.T. we know  that   structured functional F.I.T.  exercise is important for each of us to maintain our balance and posture as we age.  We also believe that activity should include FUN. We recently completed our first annual FIT Trip. Six fun filled days, rafting and hiking through the Grand Canyon. There were people on our trip from 12 to 70, all enjoying the benefits of remaining active.

We are beginning our plans for next year’s FIT Trip and we invite you to join us in being active and a part of the FIT family.

In good health,

Bob

“Rather than viewing a brief relapse back to inactivity as a failure, treat it as a challenge and try to get back on track as soon as possible.” – Jimmy Connors
