The Calorie Monster - FIT Human Performance
April 30, 2017 –
Last week a friend and I went for lunch and the worst part about my lunch, was that I could not finish it. Even before I knew what I was going to order for lunch, I was happily eating the free chips and salsa they were so kind to serve us. They are SO good! However, this is where FREE does not mean free of calories, no way.
On average each chip is 20 calories and a serving is 7 chips. I don’t know about you, but I have never stopped at 7, maybe 27. No chip in a bag is as yummy as the fresh ones we were enjoying before our meal arrived. If you love chips like I do, then consider making your own fresh ones at home. (recipe below) They are much healthier … and if I might say so, much yummier!
You will need-
First, pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut tortillas into shape and size of your liking; slice, strips, or use a glass to make rounds.
Foil a baking sheet and place chips in an orderly fashion (so you can flip them half way through).
If you enjoy seasoning or salt, lightly spray or wipe chips with oil before cooking and sprinkle with salt or seasoning.
Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes or to desired crispness.
Cool for safety and enjoy.
The point of my story is this, I ruined my real lunch with my pre-meal snack. Dang-it! Be conscious of what you are putting in your mouth (my wife calls it mindful eating). Don’t let the calorie monster ruin your dinner.
In good health,
Bob
