Labor Day is all about You - FIT Human Performance
September 6, 2015 –
So here it comes, a reason to celebrate and a chance to relax. Maybe we should have one weekend a month to do the same! I think they tried that in Greece … so never-mind. However, this weekend the grill gets hot, the adult beverages get cold, and we all take a sigh of relief from the normal anxiety of the Monday routine (work, school, traffic, and those aggravating people!) But why do we get to take a break next week? What is the meaning of Labor Day?
According to Wikipedia, ‘the Labor Day holiday takes place on the first Monday in September and it pays tribute to American workers. Labor Day honors the contributions put in by every worker in the U.S. to help improve the nation. The first Labor Day was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882 in New York City. However, the first state to pass the holiday as law was Oregon on February 21, 1887.Labor Day became a legal holiday in the entire nation on June 28, 1894. The holiday has become a day of relaxation and entertainment for the whole family over the years.’ So, hoorah for all of us who contribute to improve the nation!!
Now tomorrow is a day of leisure, or sport, or good food, but that does not mean your decisions should sabotage your fitness and health goals. Make healthy choices and stay hydrated … and schedule your workout on Tuesday!
In good health,
Bob
