Cheater!

Post

March 31, 2013

So the question becomes…what if you cheat on your diet? (Diet does not mean 30 days of starvation, it is a nutritional lifestyle.) OK, I must admit, I can get bored with the mundane foods our bodies truly should enjoy.  The temptations of eating out, drinking a glass(es) of wine, munching on a cold Reeses Peanut Butter Cup from the freezer, and the list goes on an on.  Yep, I think I’m pretty darn good at sabotaging my diet and my health.  And I can always find an excuse to REALLY blow it, it’s my birthday,  its Friday, it’s …  Bad BOB!

cheaterOk so what happens?  Well for one, lack of commitment to a goal or a lifestyle. We all know and realize the implications of what happens with the endless supply of processed and genetically modified foods, combined with the lack of exercise.  The scale wins the battle. Our weight goes up and our health goes down.  First, don’t beat yourself up on a CHEAT day(s) … life is a journey.  Start over today and this time set some goals to reach.

So what is the best way to stop cheating on your diet?  Make healthier options readily available.  “No”, not a bag of bagels.  Fruits and vegetables are what I was thinking.  Fruit is loaded with natural fructose and satisfies the sweet cravings your body signals you that you need.  Crunchy carrots, savory celery, beautiful broccoli, or crazy cucumber sticks are all great for your health!  YUM!  Chew yourself silly and healthy!

The most important piece of the ‘Law of Thermodynamics’ (calories in = calories out) is to burn up the stored calories with exercise.  Oh, and the shortcut by the way IS (drumroll ) … wait for it… lifting weights!  Yes, lifting weights burns more calories, and after exercise does more for your metabolism than anything else.  Make a commitment to a goal or a lifestyle.  Just to make exercise happen is great for your muscles, bones, organs, and self esteem … so as Nike says ‘Just Do It’! Make an appointment to visit F.I.T. for a safe effective workout today.  And, stop cheating 🙂

In good health,

Bob

I thought, you know the food and the diet thing is one way to start yourself onto a healthy lifestyle, but if you don’t move, if you don’t start exercising you’re gonna deteriorate.
