2019 … The Year of YOU

Post

January 13, 2019 –

The end of the year, for many of us, makes us stop and contemplate so many things.  One of the most obvious is our physical shape … it is very easy to hide weight gain and mushy muscles with sweaters or jackets, and during the holidays we find it time to put on our finest clothing (if they still fit) or buy new clothes.  There are many who continue to stay active, eat healthy, and maintain the ideal weight and clothing size.  However, many of us like food too much and afford new bigger better wardrobes.  That is the realization of what we really did to our bodies over the last 12 months.  BUT here comes a brand new year and a brand new you!

Several of my friends have already vowed that COME THE FIRST OF THE YEAR I’M GOING TO GET SERIOUS!  And we begin romancing the resolution for change.  And, with that being considered why don’t we all agree that 2019 will be The Year of YOU!  As I always say, “Who’s it all about?”  YOU, yes YOU!! But rather than guess and hope      for what to resolve … make it about you.  If that means a change in fitness or healthy habits, then I am very motivated to help you.

For those of you who like to know about the statistics of people who actually achieve their New Years Resolutions … you can look it up.  My guess is the numbers are not too great because honestly change is very challenging. I do know of a few great motivational sayings but instead, how about a simple resolution technique called ‘Stop, Start, and Continue.’

Think about one thing you would like to ‘Stop’ doing in your life.  Then, think of one thing you would like to ‘Start’ doing in your life.  Then the last goal is something that you want to “Continue’ making a commitment to in your life.  Now write them all down. I like this technique because it is straightforward, and very easy for people to remember their commitments on what they want to stop, start, and continue.

Here is a 10 point action plan to help you get started with 2019 and the Year of YOU!

  1. Take time to think about what you want to achieve
  2. Be specific
  3. Make sure your goal is a stretch …
  4. …but don’t get too aggressive!  Keep it realistic.
  5. Write your resolutions down and make two copies
  6. Keep one set of goals in your wallet and the other in a place you will see often
  7. If you fall off the horse, get back on
  8. Share your goals with loved ones, they will be your biggest support system
  9. Measure your progress monthly and make adjustments if necessary
  10. Celebrate accomplishments and success

Honestly, I can’t think of anything more important than your own personal goals. I do know for a fact, the longer we wait for what we do want…the harder it is to get. Don’t wait, get ready, and start 2019 with a plan.

In good health,

Bob
