The Best Shape of Your Life

The other day I was working with a client and she spoke of the days when gymnasiums were a lot less, but a lot more. Gyms of yesteryear were set up for functional movement and real exercise. Not machines you sit on and move your hands or feet, but true movement. Climbing ropes, horizontal bars, balance beams, punching bags. dumbells and barbells.

She told me of a time where she once climbed up on top of 3 people and balanced on the shoulders of the top person. Yes, I smiled and thought to myself, well that’s silly…nobody can do that. Well maybe a Vegas act or Cirque Du Soleil athlete. I nodded and said “way to go.”

She went on about it for a few more minutes until I took her mind off of it with TRX squats and barbell bench presses. BUT this week she happened to bring in a photograph of that balancing act. Brilliant!

Chris is now 80 years old and recalls the moments of her life when her body was functioning at 100%. Life is so much more fun when you keep your body moving well and stay strong enough to do the things you want to do. Let Chris be your example, we should all take care of our health?
